日本に行きます! (Going to Japan!)

Hello family, friends, JET prospects, or anyone else who stumbles upon this blog!

I’m sure most of you visiting this page know me already. If not, then hi! My name is Erin. But you may also call me Green Bean, Ern, Bob, Eob, Eran the Conqueror, Snowflake, or whatever suits your fancy, really. My actual name hasn’t stopped anyone from calling me all of the above things.

I am 24 years old, from New Orleans, Louisiana, and about to start the most fantastic journey of my life as part of the JET Program! I am headed to Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and will be there for who knows how long, really. At least one year, maybe more, I don’t know what’s in store! I’m assuming that many of you don’t really know much about the geography of Japan, but Hyogo Prefecture is on Honshu, Japan’s main island. It’s in the southern bit, nestled between some mountains and the ocean, and it’s about an hour away from Osaka, another one of Japan’s major cities. Kobe is a very modern city with a population of 1.5 million and is known for producing some of the best beef in the world (how ironic that the vegan ends up in the beef capital of the world…).

Here ya go. There is Kobe

And look! More of Kobe! How pretty!

As I write this, I am in Houston and getting ready to depart in a couple of days. Oh how I am dreading that plane ride. 14 hours of plane. FOURTEEN HOURS. FOURTEEN HOURS OF PURE MISERY. Moving on, I pretty much just wanted to write an intro post so all of y’all lovely folks have something to feast your eyes upon when I share the link to my humble blog. Well, this is really all I’ve got until I get to Japan; next time I write, I’ll be seeing you on the other side (of the world)!

またね! (see ya later!)
